“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1

A woman by the name Amel Lual was brought to the clinic yesterday. Thirty years old Amel had severe burns on her both feet. This happened while she was sick. She was cooking in her home while of a sudden she started having convulsions and she fall down and her feet fall on fire and got burned. She needs to be refered to Wau for further treatments and an x-ray. Our Doctors reported that nothing that can be done to her for now because the bones are already out and her legs need to be amputated to prevent gangrenous. Please pray for healing physically, psychologically and emotionally . Another woman was brought to the clinic at around 1:00 pm after a brick fall on her from the wall. Alakor Yar 28 years old is five months pregnant and was sleeping on her back on this rainy morning when this happened. She was covered by the brick wall from the chest to the knees and could not move. Neighbors heard her yelling before they rescued her. On arriving in the clinic she was semi-conscious, we prayed for her and thanked God that she wasn’t hit on the head and has no obvious fracture. Please Pray for viability of fetus because the midwife couldn’t get the fetal heart tones, also pray for her to be healed emotionally and psychologically as well.

Medical Clinic Update

Dennis w/ Patient

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10

We had a busy week of more than 20 children of age 2 weeks and less than 2 months admitted with asthma and pneumonia in our clinic. Most asthmatic patients present with chest tightness, wheezing, cough, and breathlessness. There is a lot of prolonged expiration and diffuse wheezes on physical examination.

Asthma is not a common disease in this community, they have little or no knowledge at all on this disease, and therefore there is prevalence of hospitalization for best monitoring and assessing of the severity as we continue to give medications and patient education on self management which is an integral part of effective asthma care. Also ways to control environmental factors that predispose to this disease for long term control.

Drugs used and how to use where most are administered orally and by inhalation where by the clinic’s goals are met when patients are admitted so as to prevent and minimize chronic symptoms and to eliminate the need for emergency visits to our facility which offers only the best we can possible.

Pneumonia is common illness in this community and we admitted about 18 patients this week who came in with symptoms nearly all these patients were children. Symptoms resolve normally in 24 hours so a need for hospitalization in our first level facility, which needs a lot of support to make it better for sufficient patient care to prevent such complications like pneumonia condition which is life threatening.

Malaria is also common in this community. Most of the patients suffering with this sickness are children. Our medical team went to Maloney outreach on Wednesday and treated over 70 patients with malaria.

Every patient who comes to the clinic are given an opportunity to hear about Jesus and also have the time for prayer and counseling after seeing the doctors. We have seen a good number accepting Jesus. They come from villages that have never heard of God, they don’t have any churches or any spiritual leader.

But we strongly believe those who have heard the gospels go out and share with their communities and families. The Bible says “…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” Isaiah 55:11. Amen.

Sharing the gospel with the patients!

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” – Isaiah 60:1

Samuel our clinic chaplain evangelizes to the patients every day and he ensures that every patient is given the chance to receive prayers and Jesus as their savior. Today more than 150 people were seen in the clinic and Samuel had a chance to interact with each one of them.

Today there was a lady whose child was seen by  our Clinical officer Dennis. The lady was kind of fierce. When the Doctor tried to examine her child with the stethoscope she protested and tried to stop him. But the Community Health Worker, Dorothy explained to her what was being done to her child. Dorothy offered to pray for her, but she protested again and asked her what prayer is. They were two other patients in the same room and they explained to her the meaning of prayer. Dorothy also explained to her and she agreed reluctantly to be prayed for. Later Samuel prayed for her and encouraged her with the word of God until she was convinced and she said she believed about God and his son Jesus Christ.

Another woman told us that she believes that there is a God who lives in heaven and she is willing to share to her community, but the problem is that they will not believe her. She said she tried once but the elders called and warned her not to mention Jesus  again, because they have their own traditions and the way they worship their god. The elders believe that their women might became prostitutes if they believe anything taught in the towns. After we shared with her, she became bold and said she would stick to what she now believed about Jesus.

Please pray that God would touch their hearts and open their eyes so that they may see his goodness and light.

Rebecca Ayak after Surgery!

Patient Rebecca Ayak

Dear Prayer wariors,

I want to update you about Ayak surgery.

Like any girl it was very tough on her to loose an arm , when she saw her missing arm the folloing day, she was very effected.

Ayak is very expressive when it comes to her emotions. She cried alot and very loud, sometime was because of the shock of loosing an arm and other times was the pain she was going through.

Thank God today she is out of the hospital and she has a normal day to day life, at least it seem that way . I am sure she has a lot going on her mind and in her heart.

The doctors are not hopeful from what they have seen from the Xray. it looks like the cancer has spread to her lungs, the doctors spoted some spots in the lungs. They want Ayak to go under more test and if it’s true they want her to start therapy right away.

She is booked to see specialist less than 10 days from now in Kijabe mission Hospital, and we pray things will work out and they will have all what Ayak needs for the tests and the therapy.

We would like you to continue to pray with us for complete healing, there is nothing impossible before our living God.

Ayak is young, clever, beautiful girl, and she has her life still ahead of her, I like to see complete healing physically and spiritually.

I am sure God’s heart for Ayak, is all good and well and it’s what best for Ayak. I know His plans are the best plans for her.

Pray with us for healing and God’s peace to fill Ayak’s heart in this hard times. pray that God would prepare her for what he has for her either way, healing or not healing.

Pray that Ayak would believe and accept Christ as a savior.

Ayak and her brother
We are very grateful for Joseph who really help Ayak and her brother in Tenwik

Clinic Patients

“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the father.” – John 14:13

A couple of weeks ago we have been having premature deliveries in the clinic, thank God no more. This month of July most cases are placenta praevia, which is caused mostly by infections. Thus causing virginal bleeding. We have transferred almost five patients with this problem to Wau Hospital.

A mother of 28 years old was brought yesterday to the clinic. Nyibol Manyual was diagnosed of placenta praevia while she was seven months pregnant. She was having virginal bleeding which was painless. The Midwife on duty Annie, examined her and admitted her for complete bed rest for one day. Today in the morning at around 4:30 am she started bleeding profusely.

Annie contacted the doctors who ordered her to be transferred urgently to a second level facility, in Wau Hospital. I.V. fluid of normal saline was fixed because the pulse rate was high and the blood pressure was low. The urgency for her referral was that she needed urgent blood transfusion and emergency theatre to save her and the foetus.

Please pray for her as she is still admitted in Wau Hospital. So many car accidents are happening on the way to Wau, pray for our ambulance for protection.
