A man was brought into our clinic by the In Deed and Truth ambulance.  He is a 22 year old man having convulsions and bizarre behavior for three days, the village medicine man did not help much with his charms, incantation and animal sacrifices. When he went into coma they felt like a second opinion was in order so the ambulance was called to go about 12 miles to the village. It sounded pretty typical for malaria with convulsions bizarre behavior then lapse into coma.  The cases of malaria has dropped with start of dry season. I believe our agressive treatment of malaria is paying off.  Malaria is only transmitted to humans from humans by mosquitoes.  Therefore if we decrease folks with malaria we decrease source of malaria,I have learned to pick up malaria in older folks who do not get as sick as children and pregnant and nursing mothers but if allowed to carry the parasite serve as source for mosquitoes to pick up parasite and then give malaria to children and preg or nursing women.
